Pop goes Manchester

Last weekend, Pop Casting paid a visit to the North West. Pop is casting for the new Tolkien movie, directed by award winning Director Dome Karukoski, staring X-men actor Nicholas Hoult, who started his career as the awkward bobble hat wearing Marcus Brewer in the comedy “About a boy”.

The film titled Tolkien after the great author, will follow the author in his younger years including his experiences in the first world war.

We will see Hoult as the English writer and poet; J.R.R Tolkien best known author of the high fantasy works “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Silmarillion”. His wife Edith Bratt will be played by the beautiful Lily Collins, who was Snow White in Mirror Mirror.

J.R.R Tolkien died in 1973 was an English Writer and poet, best known author of the classic high fantasy works, “The Hobbit”, “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Silmarillion”.

His close friend was that of C.S Lewis, Author of The Lion, The Witch in the Wardrobe, when they were both members of the literary discussion group known as “The Inklings” whilst working as an English Language Professor at Merton College, Oxford.

If it wasn’t for Tolkien’s son, finding his unpublished manuscript and his extensive notes about fictional histories, newly invented languages and literary essays about a fantasy world called “Arda” and “Middle-Earth”, after his death. We would never have had the stories of “The Hobbit” nor “The Lord of the Rings”.

In 2008, The Times Newspaper ranked Tolkien sixth on a list of the 50 greatest British writers since 1945.

Filming will be taking place in October.
