The new university year is just round the corner!
Bars are being restocked, fancy dress costumes finalised and social calendars marked out because Manchester is one of those cities that just refuses to sleep – and no one knows this more than the local student population.
So whether you’re returning to your studies or are about to embark on the next stage of your academic career, we’ve compiled a run-down of the best student nights in town just for you (this ensures that you save precious time studying or watching countdown rather than trawling the city yourself).
Persistence at Venus
The 100% House night that is Persistence is returning to the Venus nightclub for 2013’s Fresher’s week. On Tuesday 24th September the club will the site of a massive student party that will take over 2 rooms with progressive, electro and deep house sounds. 5th Avenue is a renowned student favourite – with a great atmosphere, highly affordable drinks, loyal fans and great DJs. Events there include Monday Madness which has a great selection of drink offers, Propaganda every Wednesday promises rock tunes until 2:30am, Back By Demand is a “full on Indie disco” on Thursday with a 1p entry fee, Friday Feeling has free entry for ladies and free drinks for fellas and Call It What You Want takes over every Saturday night.
We Love To Boogie
In the immortal words of T-Rex “we love to boogie”! This mid-week student night in Fallowfield has become a fast favourite with second and third years looking for somewhere outside the city centre. The in-house DJ hits all the classics and covers R&B, garage, party songs and hiphop which guarantees a heaving dance floor. Head to 256 Wilmslow Road on a Wednesday to get your boogie on. Night & Day Café
The Night & Day Café is a must for live music lovers. They have loads of well-known bands playing on a regular basis as well as showcasing tomorrow’s rock stars and upcoming Mancunian talent. Tiger Tiger isn’t specifically a student venue but its very student friendly. Manchester’s branch of the popular night spot has a relaxing area with the Tiger Bar, a retro party space in the Groovy Wonderland room and Lucky Voice, which is designed for “riotious” good times. If you want to enjoy drinks on the cheap they do have a 50% off Happy Hour every day between 5pm and 9pm.
